Holiday Cacao

Looking for ideas on incorporating cacao into your holidays?

Not only is a hot mug of cacao extra delicious this time of year, it can also add depth and a sprinkle of love to your holiday celebrations. Here are a few ideas on ways to bring the magic of cacao to your holiday season.

Cacao Party

Replace the booze with the cacao at your holiday party and watch this plant work its magic! Keep it loose and informal, just serve a moderate dose of cacao to each person. We recommend 1-1.5 ounce (3-4 tablespoons) of cacao per person for a party like this. Turn on the music, play games or just sit and chat. Cacao will bring a little extra buzz, a little extra heart, to the whole affair. If you’re tired of the usual drinking scene, just change the drink over to cacao instead and see the holiday spirit of connection and community naturally emerges.

New Year’s/Winter Solstice Ceremony

As the year comes to an end and we approach the darkest day of the year, there is an opportunity to gather together and honor the turning of the seasons, inside and out.

New Year’s is a great time to reflect more intentionally upon the year that has passed and the year that is to come. After serving up a ceremonial dose of cacao, invite people to share their accomplishments, challenges and things they are letting go of from the previous year. Then share what you are inviting in for the year to come. This can be a powerful way to witness and support each other.

Solstice is a time to acknowledge both the darkness and the gift of light that is just beginning to return. Many traditions honor this time of year with ceremony and the gathering of community. After serving up cacao, consider ways to acknowledge the inner and outer darkness and light. This can look like sharing about our wounds & shadows and about our gifts and passions. It can look like creating an alter of candles or doing a candle walk in the night. Find some stories and songs that embody this time of year that can be shared.

Cacao & Self-Care

The holidays are a great time to love yourself up a little more than usual. Instead of a day at the spa, give yourself the gift of time to nourish your inner world. Think of it like a shower for the soul. Set aside 3-5 hours, brew up a ceremonial dose of cacao, and set the intention to only do things that feel relaxing, rejuvenating and that let the stress of the holiday season melt away. Journal, stretch, follow your creative muse, dance, sing, cry or meditate. Setup an altar, put on a playlist or get out your art supplies. Don’t worry about the details, as long as you follow your inspiration and listen to the wisdom of your body. Oh yeah, and don’t forget to turn off the phone and lock the door, so the time is all yours!

Gifting Cacao

Tired of the emphasis on stuff and the latest gadgets? Gift your loved ones with a heart-opening experience instead! If you’ve experienced the power of cacao, it’s totally natural to want to share that with those you care about. Give the gift of cacao this holiday season and pass on your wisdom about drinking pure cacao (instead of sugar laden chocolate) and how to create personal ceremony with it. And don’t forget, we send out the drink recipe with every order we ship out, so you can send cacao right to your friends & family. We’re happy to include custom notes too!

Whichever way you go with it, remember that the particulars are less important than creating space for love and connection during the holiday season!
